From an early age, I’d escape to the basement of my childhood home to draw, especially on Saturdays. That’s when my dad would take me to the candy store to pick out two comic books. I’d hurry home to trace and draw the superheroes (my favorite was Spider-Man 🦸🏼♂️) and recreate the BAM!s and POW!s in my own designs.
I loved drawing words. For a long time, I had no idea how this would manifest into something worthwhile. It was just a lot of fun, and I was pretty good at it.
Eventually, Saturday sketching advanced to weekend art classes in the city. Once H.S. graduation came, my heart belonged to art 🎨. After college, I hit the sweet spot of technology (hello, Photoshop 1.0) and embraced digital tools. I worked in print for a few years but pivoted to web technologies as the industry transformed.
And today? I have had a great experience working in the book biz at Penguin Random House. In the early days, I managed a team of ridiculously talented designers, and we crafted the first online presence for many of the literary world’s top voices and publishers. Since then, I’ve worked in consumer marketing and I’ve created lots of digital marketing. Most recently (and notably ❤️), I was the AD for Brightly, a content site that promotes raising kids who love to read.

If you’re still reading, here’s a little more about me… I’m a design thinker, but I still enjoy hands-on work. I dislike jargon and try to be straightforward when discussing my approach. I pride myself on being a fun and easy person to work with, and I have a persistent excitement about learning.
Oh, and I still buy comic books (and graphic novels and magazines) to swoon over the layouts and typography. Lately, I’ve been exploring generative AI to improve efficiency. However, technology doesn’t define good design—POW! 💥
